The project consisted of a 40,000 s.f. renovation of a former car dealership that will bring a state-of-the-art basketball facility to southeastern MA. The new renovation creates a space which accommodates five basketball courts, offices, concession stands and event areas.
The structural renovation included the concrete slab-on-ground design for a high-performance, hardwood floor system to be used on the basketball court areas. The renovation also included a new 27 ft high, structurally independent, steel-framed vestibule. Lateral loads due to wind and seismic forces are resisted by the use of x-bracing composed of structural steel members.
