The project consists of a 64,000 s.f. renovation to the top four floors of One Portland Square in downtown Portland, Maine for a prominent law firm. The new renovation accommodates updated spaces for meeting rooms, conference center and a library resource/reading lounge creating a social hub for the firm.
The structural renovation includes the investigation of the existing composite slab and steel structure to check the structural member load capacity based on the load requirements of the current building code. The renovation also includes cutting out a large portion of the existing composite slab and steel framing to open up the space below for natural lighting. Miscellaneous steel frames were also included to support new folding glass door systems for the conference and meeting areas.
